Dear Prime Minister Justin Trudeau:
As a Canadian
Citizen, and animal rights activist/advocate, I feel it is my duty and
responsibility to innocent life in need to request your attention upon the
Canadian Seal Hunt that is being permitted to occur within this great country
of ours.
I know that there
are some individuals who continue to find this industry as something essential,
necessary and beneficial to our economy – but in all due respect, it is a fading
industry that the Government still finds vital to subsidize.
As you are well
aware, our country is constantly faced with many other issues/concerns that
need our immediate attention and financial assistance (education, health care,
employment etc.) So why are we still providing funding to an industry that is
not only fading but also inhumane, a cruel and barbaric destruction of life in
order to fulfill a demand that is no longer present..
Many countries have
already united and banned the importation of commercial seal hunt products, and
with much guarantee other countries will follow, which will shrink the global
market considerably.
It is with these
bans and the constant raising of public awareness of the brutality and issues
that this industry consists of that will generate further negative outcomes –
outcomes that will surely affect our country if we do not make the right
decision and withdraw ourselves and funding from this unnecessary and inhumane
business.
We are truly hoping
that you will stand along with countless others in the fight to stop the seal
hunt industry – don’t let a dying-industry seize and destroy innocent life and
the life of this great country of ours.
